My students are an amazingly lively, energetic bundle of excitement and energy! Our school is a Title 1 school, with majority of students that come from very low income homes, most with struggling single parents or custodial guardians. Many of them do not have stability at home and thrive on the balance and structure provided at school. Over half of my students are one to two grade levels below and are pulled for interventions in order to give them the extra support they need to catch up and preform on-level tasks.
For this project I have selected flexible seating options such as wobble stools, surf table desks, and bouncy bands that allows freedom of movement, such as bouncing, rocking and leaning.
Freedom of movement allows students to focus on their work and give them an output for their built up energy!
Many times while working students are so engaged, "on the edge of their seats," with excitement that their seats just seem to fly out from under them! With the new wobble stools students will be able to continue the excitement of learning without the interruption of loosing their seats. The new bouncy bands will help students keep in rhythm and pace while remaining engaged in the rigor of our lessons.
