Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students love to learn! Every day, they come to school ready to ask questions, explore new ideas, and do their best. Most of our students qualify for free lunch, so families are not able to provide the school with extra financial support.
Kindergartners learn best through hands-on, integrated experiences.
This is especially important for my students who are English Language Learners. They have to master academic concepts and a new language at the same time! It's important that these students have lots of time to practice their new language so they can share what they've learned.
My Project
Kindergarteners come to school with a TON of energy! While this is great during P.E., it can become a challenge while working at our tables.
Wobble chairs allow us to move and exercise our core muscles, while working at a table.
Balance and spacial awareness are essential to our gross motor development. Wobble chairs build these muscles while providing a designated area for movement. Not only is wobbling fun, but rocking is known to provide comfort. Being able to rock and calm yourself down at your seat will create more time to focus on academics.
The Foot Bands provide resistance so students can kick their legs without kicking a classmate. This helps build the essential skill that it's important to take care of your needs, while being mindful of others. The foot bands help create a classroom culture of kindness and understanding among students.
