My students need these items in order for them to be successful throughout our school day. The students will be able to use balance balls and the wooble cushions to wiggly while they work.
I have an eager group of students ready to accomplish any of the tasks that are laid in front of them. We live in a small town in South Carolina. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am working to create a comfortable and safe learning environment in order to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning opportunities.
Several of my students have an ADD/ADHD diagnosis, others were in a self-contained behavior class last year.
I am in need of alternative learning options. My students have a great desire to learn, however sometimes their need to move or be in a different position hinders optimum learning.
Our school serves students in grades K-4 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment. Our goal is to prepare our students for success in high school and college.
My Project
As a first year teacher last year, I tried my best to incorporate flexible seating options into my classroom. It was difficult to offer a variety of seating options with a limited budget. Most of the flexible seating options that are in my classroom were mats to be used on the floor. As the year went on, I tried my best to add different options to our classroom.
It is with your help that I hope to incorporate a variety of seating options for our classroom.
The wobble chairs and balance balls will give my students an opportunity to have consistent movement without disturbing the other students. I have many students who struggle with attention. I believe that these items will help them focus on their schoolwork and ultimately succeed.
