My students walk into my classroom, everyday, smiling and ready to learn. They work hard every day to accomplish everything that is set before them. I have a classroom of hands on learners who love to use games and other manipulatives when learning a new concept. From the minute they step in my door, they are encouraged to be thinkers, problem solvers, writers, scientists, mathematicians, historians, geographers, and most importantly, kids.
We are a Title I school that services a large group of lower income students, with many on free or reduced lunch rates.
As a teacher in this school, it is my place to give my students all of the experiences and learning opportunities possible.
My Project
If my students were able to have flexible seating, I believe they would be more engaged and focused on their work. It is in kids nature to constantly be moving, and having flexible seating will help embrace that. Having the Kore Wobble Chairs is a way for students to sit at their desk while they work, but yet, be able to move at the same time.
I believe that giving the students the power to choose where they will do their work will keep them more engaged and focused.
That is why I have chose several options for flexible seating. The laptop desk will be great for students to sit comfortably on the ground while being able to still do work. The kneeling pads will work well for cushions to sit on, since I have tile floor. All of these options will be used during my classroom Daily Five time as well!
