This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The population I serve are from Gwinnett county in Georgia. I teach in a Title I school. I am a Kindergarten dual language immersion (DLI) teacher to 56 students, (we split them in 2 groups, 28 students in each group). My students are sweet, eager to learn, and full of energy. They all come from different walks of life but in my classroom, we are one big happy family!
My students love to move and talk.
My students LOVE to do centers rotations! I love bringing bright, fun and engaging opportunities for my classroom.
My babies love learning and are always eager and excited to learn!
My Project
Flexible seating is a huge asset in student learning. Students need opportunities to wiggle, move and explore in their classroom. These wobble stools and chairs will help to give students breaks from their chairs. My students are 5 and 6 years old and it’s already hard for them to sit still. I want to provide an environment that is welcoming and appropriate in order to maximize student learning!
If a scholar is struggling with focus, a wiggle stool can provide their brain with the stability to learn while having the freedom to move.
Sitting on the floor, on a wobble stool or in a unique chair can help students focus on the task at hand.
