My school is a Title I elementary school located in a wonderful, small town on the outskirts of the Chicago suburbs. Depending on the year, we average 18-23 first grade students per classroom. The small town love that our community has is reflected within the walls of my classroom. I'm proud to teach in my hometown, because I get to watch my "children" grow and learn over the years with a front row seat. Those kiddos who enter my room as students, leave as a part of heart.
Everyday, my students come to me with excitement, energy, and a desire to learn.
Little learners come with a lot of energy! Keeping the students moving and transitioning during the day is key to their success. I do my best to have the students moving throughout the day, allowing them to maintain their focus on the task at hand. Children are sponges, and with the right tools and support, the sky's the limit! I'm blessed to do what I do for a living.
My Project
First grade is a monumental grade level with so much important content being learning. Imagine being 6 and being told you have to sit still in a chair for a good portion of the day. For some students this does not cause any hardships or challenges. But for other students, the act of sitting alone can be the biggest challenge of all.
My goal is to make school an engaging, fun place where all students learn in a way that is best for them .
Wobble seats can provide a type of stimulation can help children focus and process information. Sensory input is especially helpful for students with ADHD, ADD, and ASD.
A donation towards these seats would be helping me create an environment where students can move throughout the day. You will help my students become more successful in the classroom and help build a love of learning!
