Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Srta. G, ¿Quiere escuchar un chiste?" I have 40 students, split between two teachers. My students are all lively and energetic and full of funny jokes and stories they are itching to share with me every morning.
They are readers, authors, scientists, and artists who enjoy having a space to express themselves.
They all come from very diverse backgrounds and have different needs when they walk into the classroom. All of my 1st graders are learning two languages and exploring many cultures. They all have wiggling bodies that need to be on the move constantly. We need an array of seating options to help us be successful learners.
My Project
First graders have a lot of energy and need to be able to fidget and move throughout the day. My students are no exception. All of my students would benefit from these seats, especially the handful that need to be moving in order to pay attention. These wobble chairs, wobble cushions, and balance balls will give them the opportunity to choose where they sit and also choose how they can do their best learning.
Having different options for seating would help them be more successful, increase their attention span and help them stay focused on the learning.
These seats would provide my students with more flexible seating options in the classroom, and also help meet their needs. Having extra "tools" in the classroom will help accommodate their learning needs and in return also help them feel more successful.
