My students need some flexible seating options such as stability balls. Unfortunately, students do not get a daily recess or daily P.E. class, and these will allow them movement in the classroom.

My Students

"I'm tired of sitting? May I stand up?" I always answer yes because I have students who just can't sit still especially at the end of the day.

I teach 4 classes of 5th grade social studies daily.

Each class seems to have more boys than girls. Boys need to be able to move around without disturbing the rest of the class. I try to incorporate movement into our class as much as possible, but sometimes its not possible. I think some flexible seating options would help alleviate the restlessness that the students feel.

My Project

Students need to move, especially boys. I try to incorporate movement as much as possible since students do not get daily recess or daily P.E. Having additional flexible seating will allow students to move without disrupting class.

Flexible seating options will encourage on task behaviors and decrease discipline by allowing students to move around without actually leaving their desks.

Boys definitely need to be able to move around and release some of their energy. We have 2 stability balls in our classroom that the students love, but need more. I would love enough stability balls for all students to sit on if they would like.
