My Students

Students in my classroom are creative, intelligent, and inspiring individuals. Many students have sensory needs due to autism, anxiety, or just being teenagers! All of my students deserve a safe, inviting, and comfortable place where they can focus on their learning and growth.

Some of my students have learning disabilities, some have special physical needs, and some have advanced learner needs.

Over half of them are on free and reduced lunch, and many of my students have serious obstacles to their learning in their personal lives that make it hard for them to focus at school.

When they come into my classroom, I want them to feel safe and comfortable so they can focus on learning the skills they will need to be creative, constructive communicators in the 21st century.

My Project

The balance ball chairs purchased from this project would be added to my classroom furniture and available to students as seating options during class time. Balance ball chairs would allow my students to sit comfortably and focus on the learning they need to be successful.

All of my students would benefit from this project.

Those with sensory needs, autism, anxiety, and difficult home lives that use the chairs would better be able to naturally wiggle and fidget which will help them concentrate on the instruction and practice in the classroom. Those that choose more traditional seating will also benefit from fewer distractions to their learning when other students' sensory needs are met.
