My students need 5 wobble stools and 6 balance discs to allow them to move and flex without leaving their seats so they are able to concentrate better and be more comfortable.
I teach kindergarten students and they enter our classroom excited and ready to learn each day! They are always on the go, ready to move around, and explore.
My kindergarteners are full of questions, and I encourage them to take responsibility for their own learning through work centers, math stations, and teamwork.
My students will be taught to have a growth mindset and understand that if they persevere and continue to work hard towards their goals they can overcome obstacles and do anything!
My Project
Flexible seating is a fairly new concept, but it allows students to take charge of their own learning through choices and it motivates and engages them because they are able to choose what works best for their learning style. Our current flexible seating options include exercise balls to sit on at the writing center and pillows to use on the carpet. Wobble stools and balance discs provide an outlet for young kids to get rid of extra energy which allows for better focus. Both of these options will help my students physically and mentally because sitting in a chair for long periods of time isn't an easy task for kindergarten students. I want to give them as many options as possible so they enjoy every day in our classroom!
Wobble stools and balance discs can calm the wiggles in young children, gives them flexibility with their seating, and enables them to actively take charge in their learning through better concentration and focus whether they are working independently, with a partner, or in groups!
