Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my class come from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities. Most students come from immigrant parents that are struggling. I teach a collaborative integrated class consisting of a majority of students with special needs ranging from classifications such as autism and emotionally disturbed. Even with these circumstances, they have a desire to achieve and try their best. The area in which my school is located, is a rural area with many low income housing projects. Most parents are receiving public assistance and are from single-family homes.
My Project
As a Special Education Teacher my students have a hard time focusing. The items I’m requesting will make my student’s more attentive and in turn help them retain and enjoy lessons they are taught. When my students with ADHD sit on the Wobble Cushion they will find it easier to release their restlessness and fidget less. They will process information more effectively, make them more excited about school and get better grades. The movement that balancing the cushions entails helps the students focus more. It also creates good muscle tone in the back that helps with writing skills as well.
