My Students
Each of my students in the Great Start Readiness Program come from diverse backgrounds. The four-year-old children qualify for the program based on risk factors. Many are being raised by single parents or grandparents and come from very traumatic home lives. As a teacher, I treat all of the children equally and meet their needs individually.
At school, I strive to give my students a stable environment by prioritizing a consistent daily routine.
Many children are very active learners, constantly needing to be moving their bodies. We alternate more quiet activities with physical activities to meet the shorter attention spans of four year old children.
My Project
Four year old children are very active; I plan to use the wobble cushions for the students who have a hard time sitting still.
If children are able to move in their chairs, it will help them stay seated and focus on the tasks at hand.
The cushions can be used on a chair or on their own when placed on the ground which makes them very versatile. These could be used as individual seating for times when we have morning greeting time and large group activities. The Wobble Cushions will be very helpful in following the new guidelines that classrooms have to follow this year. They can be moved and placed to allow social distancing and easily disinfected after each use.
