My Students

My students are ages 5-14 years old who live in a rural town in Maine. The class consists of students with communication needs, fine and gross motor needs, sensory needs and behaviors that interfere with schooling. Many of the students struggle with sitting in plastic chairs for any length of time.

The ball chairs would allow the students the sensory input that they need to focus and complete a wide variety of tasks that will in return allow them to be more independent.

They will be so proud of themselves to be able to focus and complete their work.

My Project

By having alternative seating the students will be able to focus better while building up their core muscles. Many of our students have significant sensory needs as well as communication, academic needs and gross and fine motor needs.

These seats will greatly improve their balance, focus, coordination and many other skills.

We look forward to not only improving our physical skills but also our academics due to these amazing chairs. Our physical therapist, occupational therapist and speech therapist highly recommend these chairs for our life skills students. We are really excited for this opportunity to grow and learn on our path to independence!
