I have a class of 27 little learners who are eager to explore the world! My students love learning through play, games, and different activities that allow them to be active. In our classroom, we have a community of love and truly have become a class family.
Our school is a Title I school, and the families come from many different socioeconomic levels and backgrounds.
Several of our students don't have the opportunity to learn in ways that are fun and at their own level. I want my students to obtain a love of learning while given a chance to learn at their own pace.
In our class, I strive to have my students learn through hands-on discovery and collaboration. It is always exciting to see a student's face light up when they understand the task before them. What is even better is when the student discovers it on their own through games, play, or through other engaging activities. I love watching my students learn to grow individually, socially, and academically.
My Project
With a classroom full of 27 little learners, there isn't much room for tables and chairs. I recently updated my classroom to make it an "alternative seating" learning environment. This gives the students freedom of choice as to where they sit or stand to work. It is important that students have the opportunity to have a choice.
We need wobble chairs and balance ball seats which would be the PERFECT seating alternative for my students!
It is nearly impossible to ask a 5-6 year old to sit still for a long length of time. These seats would allow them to be able to move, stay focused and work on whatever it is we're doing in class. Not only is it hard for them to sit still and work, my students don't like using regular chairs. They would be able to focus on the task provided while still getting their wiggles out.
