This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a cross-categorical unit for students with multiple disabilities as well as many other disability categories. They are all unique and special and need some extra interventions and supports to help them learn.
I work in a Title I school district where 100% of the students receive free lunch and free breakfast.
Students walk into the classroom every day ready to learn and excited to see what the school day has in store for them. They enjoy hands-on, project-based, learning projects and they are very enthusiastic about school!
My Project
My students have very active bodies! My students need an outlet to expend their energy so that they can calm their bodies to have access to the curriculum.
These sensory items will help my students focus and learn to the best of their ability.
The Kore chairs will allow students to remain seated, but still fidget and wiggle. The vibrating hand mitt and lady bug massager will help students receive sensory input so that they are not agitated and are ready to learn. The gel lap mats will aid students by making them feel grounded. They can fidget with the lap mats during learning activities and use the lap mats for math/ELA learning groups for letter and number formation.
