My Students

My high school photography and students are creative, experimental and always thinking outside the box. We learn together helping each other with all aspects of our lessons. When students take my photography class they have a true passion to learn and expand upon what they already know. They are hard working and expressive in their work. They show a true passion with the projects they complete in class.

My Project

Students this year will be learning photography with their cell phone cameras. With a switch to a hybrid learning at school due to the pandemic, phonegraphy will allow the students to learn in school and continue their learning remotely.

This year there we will be teaching a particular units on wide angle zoom and macro photography.

By using interchangeable lenses on their phones camera lens they can make choices on how it affects the process of creating a story. Students will study the work of Ansel Adams and Edward Weston to study the effects of using a wide angle and a macro lens to compare and contrast differences of how you can manipulate a subject by changing out the depth of the lens.

By using a tripod students can carefully plan out their photographs and placements by using rules of photography such as strong center of focus or the rule of thirds.

This process will integrate technology in the classroom, decision making skills along with the study of art history. Students will edit their work in the classroom and at home, critiques will be held to talk about how they used the different lenses on their cameras and the affect it had on their work.
