Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a Title I school, where about three-fourths of our student population are English Language Learners and almost all of our families are low-income or homeless. Many of our students come from migrant farming families and move frequently throughout their school year, sometimes going periods without being enrolled in school because of this.

Our students come from wonderful, hardworking families and need a little extra love and support at school!

They are very kind and caring and incredibly resilient!

My Project

In our homeroom class, we have many wonderful students (29 actually) and more (32 different students exactly) that come and share our room throughout the day. While they're all eager to learn, all of them come with their own strengths and challenges.

One of the challenges we're facing this year is spending more time on behavioral support and not as much on academic instruction.

Many of these students have difficulty even sitting flat in a chair, and with the Wobble chairs I am requesting, they could safely move in their seats without disruption to instruction or their own learning.

I believe that beginning flexible seating with Wobble chairs would help immensely help students with focusing in class and create less of a disruption during instructional time.
