In the midst of my busy classroom I love to pause for just a moment to look around and take it all in. My 29 students are everywhere working, learning and playing independently, with partners, and in small groups. Kindergartners are among my favorite people in the world and sometimes I can hardly believe I have the privilege of spending my days with them.
In my urban classroom, I teach students who collectively speak seven different native languages and represent nine countries and three continents.
Our differences make us stronger and we rely on each other to achieve our personal best.
Daily we work together, challenging each other to take risks in our learning. If you stepped inside my classroom you would see students helping each other and hear words of encouragement and even cheers as a student achieves a goal.
My Project
I am requesting 6 wobble stools to give my kindergartners additional options for seating in our classroom. Wobble stools are slightly rounded on the bottom, allowing students to rock slightly as they sit and forcing them to use core muscles to balance. They are an excellent choice for students who need to move to stay focused while they work. And let's face it - that describes most kindergartners!
I allow my students to make choices whenever possible, and choosing a "just right" seat in one of those areas.
The wobble stools will complement other seating options in my classroom, including exercise balls, wiggle seats, and standard chairs.
