I teach third grade in a very rural district. I have students that range from K level to 8th grade all in one classroom. Students in my classroom are continuously working in small group and/or on a computer. I have 21 students and I am constantly transitioning from whole group instruction to individualized, small group instruction. I want students to always be engaged in whatever area I am teaching. When students are excited to learn, it's a success in my class!
My Project
My students have asked to try stand up desks this year. They are inspired to ask for things that will help them learn and move at the same time.
This project will keep my students moving and active while they learn.
My students inspired me to write a project for Stand-Up desks. There are always some students that either ask to stand or I just find them standing at their desks. Unfortunately, our desks are small and they are hunched over. Together, we have decided to embark on getting this seating option that will offer them what they need. It is thrilling to see that my students feel inspired to ask for the things that will keep them moving and learning in our classroom. The Bouncy Bands are another way the children can move while sitting in a chair. I want to provide them with a variety of ways to sit, stand, and learn. Having these desks will give students more than 60 minutes of movement a day. Thank you for helping us incorporate movement in our classroom!
