Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a diverse group of 6th grade students who are excited and nervous about beginning middle school. I love that I have the opportunity to be their teacher as they begin their journey.
Making my classroom safe and comfortable is a priority.
My students are creative and love to share their personal stories in a place where they feel at home and secure, and this allows them to be successful in their learning. They inspire me to want to do more for them.
My Project
My students need flexible seating, fidget bands, finger fidgets and colors to be motivated and engaged in the many lessons we will be doing in our classroom. The benefits my students will receive from these supplies will be higher academic performance, improved behavior and increase metabolism which will help in their overall health.
Increased motivation and engagement is at the top of the list!
For some of my students, flexible seating will help them focus better knowing that there are a variety of seating options. The bouncy bands for the chairs and the finger fidgets will benefit my students who have a difficult time focusing due to anxiety and other issues. We do many in classroom projects throughout the year and the color markers will benefit all of my students.
