This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are hard workers and are ready to crush their goals. Every year they continue to amaze me and beat the odds and stigmas that others put on them. Learning challenges and diversities will not slow my students down, and they are not content with using their differences and learning disabilities as an excuse. My students have unique social, emotional, academic, and behavioral needs that span a wide spectrum, yet they continue to push beyond those challenges.
My students can and will learn and continue to grow - they just need extra support to push them to their potential and beyond!
My Project
I am lucky enough to teach reading to the best students in Memphis. My students have diverse learning needs, and I want my classroom to be an environment where they can thrive and grow to their full potential. We set high expectations at my school and in my classroom no matter the learning challenges students may have. Providing an environment where my students can crush goals while overcoming learning challenges is crucial, and I believe these items will help make that possible.
Learning differences are not a curse - when students learn to work with and around their challenges, they meet and exceed expectations and goals.
We don't let differences slow us down, and we especially never say we can't do something. Even if some students are struggling to read or meet a goal, we say, "I'm still working on it."
