Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students brighten my day from the moment they walk into our classroom until the second they leave. As my students enter the classroom each morning, I am greeted with smiles, stories, questions, and my very favorite "Mrs. W, how are you doing over there?" My students have a wide range of disorders that affect the way that they process, understand and communicate information. My classroom consists of students that are in the 4th, 5th and 6th grade.
My students all have different abilities that require different methods of instruction and materials to help them learn to the best of their ability.
My students come to school each day knowing that more than their educational needs will be met. Our school provides each student with free breakfast, a healthy snack at recess and free lunch. Our school also has social and emotional supports for our students if they are needed.
My Project
My students learn best when they have visual and hands on materials to use during our lessons. I will start off by reading the books titled “The Story of Money” and “What Can You Do With Money”.
These books will start our class discussions on financial literacy.
My students will then transition into using the hands on money kits in small groups to reinforce the value of money. Once my students have an understanding of the value of money we will begin to use the educational games to build their understanding of how money is used in the real world.
