Why Do I Have to Do Math?

Help me give my students a Grade 2-3 Math Library and Multiplication and Division workbooks for an enjoyable way to learn about mathematics and enhance their literacy levels in one opportunity. Students require as many different methods of instruction as possible reading about math works to answer why!

My Students

Every child in my classroom has been designated as an exceptional student and requires additional instruction to help them achieve success in the public school environment and prepare them for real life. I can see no greater area of need and feel privileged to have the opportunity to be their teacher.

I strongly believe every child is capable of learning if given the proper support and opportunities.

Many of my students have areas of strength that could be translated into success if properly motivated. This classroom serves students in a Title I school and community. They all have dreams for the future and I want to help them achieve as many of them as possible.

My Project

We are requesting a Grade 2-3 Math Library and Multiplication and Division workbooks for an enjoyable way to learn about mathematics and enhance their literacy levels in one opportunity. The presentation of mathematical operations and systems is often hard for students to comprehend and daunting to perform. Making it something to be avoided. However, the incorporation of math literacy into the classroom makes it more enjoyable for students as it answers the why question.

Students ask why they have to do everything; especially when it comes to math, these books will allow them to explore and reason out the why for themselves which makes learning greater.

It is my goal to make all of my students active learners which means they desire to learn new things even when the teacher is not available. These texts will help to build upon their natural curiosity and help them learn new things each day.
