Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an interesting bunch, to say the least. Living in the city of Newark, many of my students have struggles that the average person doesn't have to handle. Many of the daily tasks that seem simple to you and me, my students tend to struggle with.
In my classroom, we take pride in knowing that many of my students come from diverse backgrounds, many who are first-generation Americans!
Many of the students struggle to make ends meet, whether that is finding money for their next meal or looking for a jacket to wear to school. That being said, both my ninth and tenth grade classes are filled with vibrant students that try to make the best of every situation. My students enjoy learning through a creative route and are constantly looking for new ways to push themselves in the classroom. To have a project like this, would allow my students to learn history through the creative route they desire.
My Project
Reading is a huge part of a students high school career. Studies have proven that students who read more have a higher chance of succeeding in life. In my class I promote reading, however I want my students to read about role models in their life to see how they succeeded.
My project is an independent reading project that is filled with books on people who succeeded in life and books to help you succeed.
These books I have asked for are filled with figure my students idolize. After my students read and take notes on their book, they are going to create their own "timeline to succeed." Please help my students succeed with books!
