This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are excited about "Making Faces" and writing about their experience. I teach 6th grade students fine arts, in a Missouri public school. At least 98 percent of the students are at risk and receive free or reduced lunch.
In a word "Zip"; I have very limited supplies. My students have shown an interest in using materials other than dried up markers and old crayons.
I need at least 25 sets of pastel pencils with flesh and earth tones so that my students can make self portraits that look like them.
You can make a difference by helping children seek to find their true nature, by looking at themselves so intently that it becomes a journey behind their skin.
