Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a fourth grade teacher in a special education/inclusion classroom. My students come from very high poverty, intercity homes.

I am trying to teach my students about our city and state for social studies curriculum. It is very interesting and I have learned a lot, but my students aren't able to take such an interest in it, because they are unable to go out into the community and see where many things have gotten their names(streets, buildings, even tombstones) .

I would like to be able to tour our city cemetery, along with other major sites to show my students how our city (and state) came to be what it is today. Our city cemetery has many famous families buried there. The camcorder would enable me to video a plethora of items and show them to my students. I could also use the camcorder to have the students put on their own readers' theater, sing our math songs, role play for social skills, and a magnitude of other ideas.

Your help will make all this possible. Your donation will enable my students to see their city in a whole new light! They will be able to put a name with a street, building, etc. Plus, they will take pride in conducting their own plays, skits, etc.
