Whoooo, Whoooo, ate what?
I teach a wonderful group of 4th graders in a very small, rural community in Vermont. 40% of our population live in poverty. We have only 100 students K-6.
Currently, our students have only seen pictures of what a food chain is about. I want them to have a hands experience of dissecting an owl pellet. When the students discovered that owls actually throw back up their prey after digesting it, they began searching our woods. Not safe at all since the pellets they may find in the woods are not sterilized.
I need 15 owl pellets, so that each student can dissect their own owl pellet, find the bones of the prey and try to reassemble it enough so that they can determine what the owl had eaten. The books on the food chains will give students the broader understanding of food chains and food webs of the world.
Your help will ensure that my girls remain charged up about science and that my boys stay focused. Most of my students will never have an opportunity like this in their life.
