Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Welcome to our 4th grade class! We are excited about learning! Our class goal is for every student to be and feel successful! One of our biggest challenges is reading. We realize that becoming great readers will help us grow in all of our other academic studies too! Thank you for helping us!
We are 4th graders.
Our school is located in a rural area in New Mexico. We are very proud of our kids. They come to school every day and do their best. Our classroom is full of students and learning opportunities! Most of my students speak English and Spanish. Our school is small. Our teachers work really hard and invest a lot into our kids and our community. There is a high rate of poverty and unemployment where we live. Often, I am amazed at the resilience of my students. Despite some real challenges, they never stop smiling. I am so proud of the effort they put into their learning each day. Their beautiful smiles and enthusiasm motivate me to do my best too. My students love books and learning! Many of them struggle with fluency and comprehension. This year we are really focusing on improving their literacy skills. Your investment in our classroom Literacy Centers will provide a wonderful chance to break free from our ordinary routines!
My Project
The materials and resources I am requesting will be used for our classroom Literacy Centers. Each day we will spend an hour focusing on different reading and literacy skills. The students will work in groups of 3 and rotate through different activities with the awesome materials you are investing in! The students will use the CD player to listen to their story of the week. The personal CD players will provide the means for each student to select their own story to listen too. The whiteboards, chalkboards, magnetic letters, crayons, chalk, and stamps will provide students with the materials needed to practice their writing and high frequency words. The dice will be used to play games with words. The students are going to love all of these new and exciting materials that will help develop their literacy skills in a fun and hands-on opportunity! I can hardly wait to see the smiles on their faces and the excitement in their eyes! Thank you for investing in us!
