When you have a classroom of an average 21 students, demonstrating to the whole group can be challenging. Students in my classroom engage in technology and appreciate when I can show them a technique up close.
I have students in both jr.
high and high school art classes. Students come from a community that has over 60% on free and reduced lunch. That fact does not limit them in their desire for knowledge. Some students are quiet and don't really make themselves seen. While other students can't get enough attention. I believe that some have learning disabilities and special needs that will benefit from any added technology.
My Project
When I entered the classroom this year I was extremely excited that there was a computer with a connected projector. My previous experience was even more decrepit and underfunded but, using my resources, I was able to engage the students and do whole group instruction through a document camera. If you help fund this project you will be providing a document camera so that I can demonstrate techniques and processes to the whole class instead of small groups. Some examples of these types of projects would be painting techniques with tempera, watercolor and acrylic, drawing techniques like shading, hand building clay processes and many other projects. Although using the chalkboard is effective, a document camera would be more applicable to the medium I will use.
In order to allow every student in my larger classes the ability to observe my demonstrations, I need this equipment.
Hopefully, through you, the donors, I will be able to provide the demonstrations, record them and play them back for students to see repeatedly the demonstration.
