Our classroom is a culturally, linguistically, and socioeconomically diverse space. Our school is placed at the center of a low-income community that is home to many young learners of English. My young learners are working very hard to adapt, persevere, and thrive in the school environment.
My students have many valuable experiences and rich cultural backgrounds which they bring to the classroom each day.
Our district and our staff members are passionate about providing an equitable education and safe space for all students.
My scholars would benefit immensely from a new carpet. Students use the carpet daily in a myriad of classroom exchanges. We meet on the carpet first thing every morning to discuss how they are feeling and the learning schedule. Students work in pairs or independently on the carpet to practice their literacy and math skills. We end the day in a closing circle that we could meet on as well.
Students come to the carpet for a whole group instruction, class meetings, and much more!
Having a meeting carpet in the primary classroom is part of an everyday routine. Our new beautiful carpet would allow students to use the carpet quickly, quietly, and safely and in an engaging way!
