Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

On a typical day, students spend about half of their time in a whole group setting, and the other half either working independently or collaboratively learning in small groups.
A large percentage of the students in my classroom, and at my school as a whole, come from underprivileged backgrounds.
We do our best every day to ensure that when they are at school they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. It is my goal to make my students feel like our classroom is a haven for them to be themselves free from judgment. I also strive to create an environment where students feel believed in by me, their classmates, and themselves.
My Project
This classroom rug will be used every day, as we begin every lesson in our whole group area, and are sometimes there for a whole lesson. We also begin our days with a morning meeting in our whole group area. In order to make the most effective of use of our whole group time, students need to feel comfortable, safe, and focused. The whole group carpet we are requesting will do just that. Each student has their own personal space while still being a part of the bigger group. It also gives us as a class a fun and dedicated place in the room to meet for all of our whole group needs, be them academic or otherwise. Additionally, students will access to this area when they are working independently or collaboratively with other students and need a place to work comfortably.
Donations to this project will provide my students with a much needed resource for their classroom.
It will give them a dedicated space to meet with me as a whole group where we can learn and work together. While it may seem strange that a carpet can do all this, it would mean the world to us to have a fun and comfortable area to meet with each other while we grow and learn!
