My students need a variety of Language Art Games/Teaching Charts to use during centers to help them build their reading comprehension skills learned during Language Arts.
Do you remember what it was like when your teacher had you complete boring worksheets during center time? My students love hands-on activities where they can interact with each others. They love to play games, even if the games are learning games!
My students belong to a small community in Hawaii.
They come from very diverse ethnic backgrounds including: Hawaiian, Chinese, Caucasian, Filipino, Japanese, African American, and Portuguese. My students are nature lovers! Since, our school is located right near the ocean, you can find many of them at the beach after school and on the weekends. My students understand the importance of taking nothing for granted. Many of them come from low socio-economic families. Everything and every opportunity they are given is taken with gratitude.
My Project
Games:
Nonfiction Plinko
Wipeout! Vocabulary Game
Extreme Reading Comprehension Game
Mystery of the Big Foot Trail!
Reading Comprehension Bingo Library
Bikers Racers Reading Comprehension
*All of these games will be used during center time. Center time is when the students move around different centers in the class while the teacher works in small groups. Centers help provide reinforcement/extra-practice of content that was learned. Incorporating games into centers keeps the students engaged, while they work on concepts/skills already learned. Using these games will help my students work on their reading comprehension skills in another context (besides reading out of a book).
Other items:
Comprehension Strategies Teaching/Chart Stand
*This comprehension strategies teaching stand will help my students during centers in small groups. These teaching cards will help re-teach strategies learned during Language Arts. These cards will also be useful to refer to when reading.
Please help learning to be fun for my students by providing them with exciting, fun, and engaging reading comprehension games!
By having these games, I know my students will love center time!
