Whole Body Learning for Children with Disabilities
Help me give my students hands on, active learning tools that can involve their whole bodies and develop their gross and fine motor skills for whole body learning.
My students have multiple and severe disabilities that affect their life in many ways. Often they have challenges that affect gross motor, fine motor, speech, sensory processing, and social skills.
My greatest challenge is providing meaningful, hands-on, multi-sensory learning opportunities that target all areas of my students' lives.
My classroom team and I love making classroom learning that builds academic knowledge as well as develops skills that connect such a unique population of students to the Real-World and lifelong skills!
My Project
With multiple and severe disabilities, my students often have limited chances to play to learn social skills, how to be a friend, how to take turns, how to win and how to lose.
My students need opportunities to play and to use their whole bodies and gain fine motor and gross motor skills which will greatly impact their independence and enjoyment of life.
Items in this project will be fun and engaging as well as providing the children opportunities to learn many skills and concepts without even realize it. All the children will know is that they are playing. We can all know that they are reaching milestones!
