Our school is in a rural community. Students enjoy activities that allow them to be creative and hands on. We utilize center based activities most of the day, which allow them to be hands on. Students enjoy solving problems and coming up with new ways to complete tasks. We are a classroom who are beginning to encompass flexible seating.
Students enjoy working with technology, solving problems, and using critical thinking strategies.
We have been integrating guided reading into our small group time which has benefited my students. Students are becoming better readers and use different strategies to figure out new words. Guided reading has been beneficial by teaching comprehension strategies that go along with learning how to read fluently.
My Project
Reading is one of many areas of learning and early reading skills are very important. Reading can be a place where you can escape, but learning how to read can also be a challenge. Reading is a process that takes years to learn and is also one of the fundamentals of learning.
This project will provide the necessary resources for teaching reading literacy to early childhood students.
These resources will allow young learners to begin reading, learn strategies, and gain comprehension skills that will further impact their life. These resources will be provided to students who would otherwise not have the opportunity to gain critical reading skills.
