My students are talented and motivated artists who work hard to combine their love of the arts with their academic studies. We are an arts school in NYC where students from diverse backgrounds are united in their dedication to artistic and academic excellence. Approximately three fourths of my students are female.
Through hands-on exploration my artistic students will see the science that shapes the world around us.
Understanding the science of climate change, disease, and human health will empower my students to positively shape the world around them. Science, technology, and policy shape the future. Gaining scientific knowledge will give power to my students' voices as they make choices that will impact our futures.
My Project
Unfortunately, a lot a chemistry learning can feel abstract and disconnected to our lives. The truth is every thing around us is a chemical. With the Properties of Matter Chemistry kits students will have the opportunity to preform fun experiments as they test the physical and chemical properties of substances and then use their knowledge to identify an unknown substance.
Hands-on experiments are what make chemistry fun and memorable.
Help me bring their knowledge of matter from the classroom to the lab and back again. The kits will bring the excitement of chemical reactions to my classroom so my students can connect the fun experiments with the theory of matter.
Lab day is my students favorite day of the week. These kits will bring a new experiment and energy to my classroom. After engaging in hands-on activities like this, students can see themselves doing science and activity participating in the STEM field.
