Ms. Leary from Durham NC is requesting professional development through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
I need professional training via ASCA and this project will allow me to participate in webinars focusing on some of the most important areas of my field.

The students that I have the blessing to work with daily are extensions of their community. They are predominately students of color who come from environments farrowed with barriers to their development. These barriers are included but are not limited to mental health needs such as stress, trauma, anxiety and social emotional deficits. 85% of my student population receive free and reduced lunch and more than half are below grade level with regards to academic proficiency. They have a blatant need for support to improve their overall outcomes. Resources however can be difficult to come by and funding even more so. My students require a unique approach and delivery when providing them support that nurtures their ability for healthy self-expression.
At this time of such uncertainty for schools, it's essential that we take advantage of all resources and tools available to staff. Right now ASCA (American School Counselor Association) is offering their Specialist training's at an extremely discounted rate. These training's focus on topics such as: Trauma, Grief, Mental Health and Leadership. All areas that will allow me to fully function as a School Counselor with an enhanced foundation moving forward. These training's are valuable.
I need to be well versed in the best practices for School Counselors to ensure that I can serve my students with ethical best practices.
