Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In my second-grade classroom, students are expected to write a biography report at the end of the school year. This report is the culmination of the year-long efforts they have put into writing informational reports and is a multi-week process that requires students to be highly engaged in the reporting process. The books I am requesting will give students more options to report on interesting people that reflect their variety of interests.

My students are so special because they come from a multitude of backgrounds and interests.

Right now they are constrained to the few options I have in my current library, and our school library where students have to compete with the rest of our grade level and school to get the books they want.

My goal for this project is that students will be excited about writing about someone who they want to learn about and create a report that they are proud of and look forward to sharing their new knowledge.
