This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are incredible tiny human beings. They are excited to learn and filled with joy and wonder. They love hugs, playing, and laughing. The world seems big, bright, and filled with hope. However, the majority of my students live below the poverty line and that can make learning more of a challenge. They overcome obstacles every day and inspire me with their resiliency and bravery.
Each one of my students strives to be the best they can be.
They are learning how to relate to one another and the world around them. That can be hard but they keep trying. They are also learning brand new skills, like reading! Every day they greet me at a door with a high five, smile, and willingness to learn. It is a honor and privilege to teach them.
My Project
Kindergarten is a time where kids need to learn through exploration with writing, drawing, numbers, and letters. Having a markerboard activity table would allow my students to meet with me and with each other in a collaborative manner where they can be hands on with their learning.
Kindergartners are more engaged when they can utilize the space they are given.
Therefore, by having a table where they can write freely and without fear of making a mess will create an environment where they can learn and interact with curriculum and activities in a unique way. Also, less paper is used because they use the table as their writing space!
