My Students
"If a child cannot learn in the way we teach, we must teach in a way that the child can learn." - author unknown
My school has a high percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients.
We also have a large diversity of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. This year, I have a mixed ability group consisting of nine boys and eleven girls. Some have grasped reading skills at a faster rate than others, and some need a little more time. They are eager to learn.
My Project
I am requesting invention a unicorn coding and robot kit for my girls. I want to help my girls feel as though they can do anything they put their mind to. Just yesterday I had a male student pass over female students to get someone to open their drink. I asked why he skipped all of the girls? His response- girls are not as strong. This made me want to empower my girls even more! We have robots in our class. Most of my girls will not even consider using them because they think they are for boys. What better way to get my girls to see that coding and robotics can be girly too!
