Who Said Science is Boring?

The cost of an elementary microscope, the Gears! Gears! Gears! Wacky Factory Set, a set of 30 hand lenses, a set of magnets, a sound box set, a prism and lenses set, a solar system puzzle, and a solar system model from Delta Education, and a globe from Quill Corporation is $549, including shipping and fulfillment.

Hooray! This project is fully funded

The study of different objectives in science from a textbook only can be very boring. Science is a subject that can come alive when a child is involved with hands on experiences that bring what they have studied and discussed to life. My science center for my third graders at Janie Hargrave School, Lumberton, NC is in dire need. We are a small school and when money is alloted per child enrolled it presents a problem for us. Our enrollment limits what we can provide through the school funding. Our PTO (Parents) do what they can to help but their economic situations are limited, too. My present science center includes several items but most are worn out. The microscope chooses its time to cooperate with lighting, pieces to the Wacky Factory and puzzles have hidden themselves. Who knows what happened to the parts to the construction sets. When young children use hands-on materials over a period of time they just get loved (used) up. Any help we could receive in replacing and purchasing new materials would be greatly appreciated.
