My Students

I have been asked to describe my students, so let me share. My students are awkward, loud, sassy, and all mine! This is who my students are. My students are brave, inquisitive and filled with questions. They come to school to be better everyday than they were yesterday! My students eat, stay at school as long as possible to avoid home and Are able to be students! They are smart, resilient and mind that I desperately work to develop and challenge. My students are fighters with passion and zest! They are fighting battles we know nothing about, but they come to math to escape and I challenge them to not just be my student I push them to be scholars. My students are out future and ever tool is an aid to help them move forward and create their own futures. They are not allowed to be anything but their best, they are my students and our futures bankers, accountants, lawyers and math teacher! My students are OUR next generation of great!

My Project

My students are all varying degrees of math leaders. For many of them they have zero understanding of how math is used when buying and selling items. My goal is to take these games and help them to learn money sense. The most important lessons I can teach my students via a game how to count. (Adding and subtracting). They will learn to appreciate what items cost, and the importance of paying bills and saving. I think as a 21st century teacher it is vital that I teach more than what is inside the book. These games teach them the most important piece of life outside the walls of school. Learning to spend only what you have, how can I save some and still get things I want!
