As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Even in the face of these challenges, my students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.
Our school serves students in grades K-8 and provides rigorous academics by fantastic teachers in caring and safe learning environment.
My Project
After 11 years our school was finally able to purchase a new reading curriculum. Unfortunately though, many times in the program videos or websites are referenced that add to the lessons and reinforce the concept or skill that we are working on. With only access to a limited amount of iPads it is often difficult, if not impossible to share this information with the entire class.
An Apple TV would enable me to not only share this important information with the entire class, but it would give the students access to places they have never been.
Believe it or not I have students that have never been to the zoo. Can you imagine what it's like to read about a place you are not familiar with? By using the Apple TV I could take them on a virtual tour of any zoo across the world!
By donating to our project you will not only help to bring the world and the most current information to my class, but you will also help to increase student attention and focus, ultimately increasing student achievement.
The world is constantly changing, and moving at such a fast pace as technology improves that it becomes much harder to keep my students engaged. Having an Apple TV will enable me to give my students the ever changing information that they need and keep them focused on learning all while enhancing our lessons!
