This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a classroom full of exuberant Kindergartners. They are energetic, fun-loving, and creative. Some of them dance all over the school from standing in the bathroom line to outside on the playground during recess. Others are jokesters that like to tell jokes and pull pranks on their friends. There are also some that love to write, read, act, play, and tell stories.
However, all of them are artists and love to create art!
They live to express themselves artistically.
My Project
Next year, I have a lot of goals in mind for my students and our classroom. I want to enable my students to be more independent learners, so seat sacks will be a great addition to my room. Students will be able to store their individual supplies in the seat sacks, as well as keep "catch-up" folders and leveled books to read. Additionally, the flexible seating will enable them to do more floor/small-group work comfortably, so that they can better focus.
More than anything, the classroom is a home away from home.
Students should be able to learn in a comfortable environment that allows them to be individuals and receive the differentiated learning they deserve. These seats and seat sacks will enable me to better provide them with that. Every little bit helps!
