Mrs. Greeley Howard from Cincinnati OH is requesting lab equipment through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students a forensic DNA typing Lyle and Louise kit to learn problem-solving skills using lab materials for our new Forensic Science class.

My urban kids choose Anatomy and Physiology, Forensics, and/or Botany as a science class. I have the opportunity to see them grow and develop from their first science class in 7th grade to their chosen electives in eleventh and twelfth grade. My science students live in city of Cincinnati & come from a myriad of ethnic backgrounds. Our community is diverse yet most of our students come from a low income and high mobility city.
My students are tech savvy and hungry for new educational technology
and engagement.
My students need opportunities to work together in teams as they learn using problem solving skills.
Many of my students receive exposure to technology at school and not at home. Resources are not often found in the household due to the lower economic conditions found in many areas surrounding our school. Most of my students do not have Internet at home and it's my job to saturate their learning environment with fun, thought provoking & engaging activities. These kids should be able to come into the class and leave inspired to grow and learn more about our ever changing world and themselves.
Forensic science is coming to our school thanks to an overwhelming poll completed by our students. The materials sought after in this project will provide real-life hands-on experience for our students. The Mystery of Lyle and Louise is a premier forensic science curriculum designed for high school students. This engaging curriculum will provide valuable opportunities for students to conduct themselves as scientists using inquiry as its basis.
This is one of fifteen hands-on modules will be used to provide students with forensic techniques that integrate biology, chemistry, math, physics, and criminal justice.
Instead of learning about forensics science abstractly, these materials will provide hands-on experiences that our curious students crave. I can't wait to begin designing the course around these materials.
