Help me give my students snacks to give them the energy they need (LIKE WE ALL DO) to get through their day! They might not have anything to eat until they come back the next day.

My second-graders are like little sponges. They are full of energy, spirit, eager to learn and hungry for knowledge. They like nothing more than to show me they’ve mastered a new skill or figured out a difficult problem.
You would never guess that these bright, creative children are attending the poorest school in the city of Charleston.
Poverty is just a way of life for my kids. Recently, downtown Charleston flooded and the bus could not make it to them. Yet many of the kids walked to school and arrived soaked. Why would they do that? They know that school is a place with warm food, love and a chance to learn.
I want my kids to know that it’s a big world out there with so many possibilities. They are exposed to so little in their homes. I want to open their eyes. These kids should be introduced to as much as possible now, while they are so eager to learn. It’s time to lessen the resource gap in the schools in Charleston.
If I am hungry, I have the means to get what I want but my babies do not. We cannot expect our students to thrive if they are hungry. Come on! I am on my game every day when I teach because my needs are met. I have posted this grant before and been shot down. Please don't watch that happen again.
With this grant, ALL of my children will have the nourishment they need to get them through a night without a meal if they encounter it (which happens more than not).
This grant will supply my students with the nourishment they need for all of August and September. I hope that gives us a foundation to go by that others I reach out to will keep it going. I need this for my kids. I would not be sitting up at 11:00 on a Saturday before school starts if I did not. I should be celebrating? Partying? Nah! I am sitting in my kitchen reaching out to strangers! Hopefully, DonorsChoose will let me post what is coming from my heart and reality.
