My students need Amazon Fire tablets with cases in their classroom to take them beyond the classroom walls of learning and to best prepare them for their successful future!
My 1st grade classroom of 29 students are energetic and passionate about learning and they LOVE going computer class! However, they only go to computer class every 6 days.
One of my students arrived to school one day visibly upset and shared with me, that although he has a tablet at home, his family does not have internet service, needless to say, this brought tears to my eyes!
To see a young man who just wanted to read a book online, but could not is heartbreaking.
Several students have expressed to me that they either do not have technology at home or internet service…thus me hoping I can supply that to them in their classroom through this project. Assisting us with this project would be ABSOLUTLEY AMAZING and would certainly put smiles on the 6-year-old faces in my class!
My Project
Classroom memories from my childhood recall images of dusty green chalkboards, manual pencil sharpeners and textbook covers made out of brown paper bags. While traces of those “old school” days remain in some classrooms, many districts have catapulted into the future with technology.
A large percentage of teachers have reported that technology has had a “major impact” on their ability to access content, resources and materials, many are finding it helps to interact with students and their families.
More importantly, technology in the classroom has increased students’ academic performance.
Having the Kindle Fires that I am requesting for this project will allow me to individualize instruction for my students. I will be able to create simulations through which students can discover important relationships and construct new knowledge. I would love to be able to eventually put the reins into the hands of my students and watch as these tools take them to destinations they envision.
