My Students

Our school represents a large variety of students from various countries all over the world. One hundred percent of the students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch, and we are a school-wide recipient of Title I funds.

Want to know one of my favorite parts of my job?

I love seeing the change that students undergo over the course of the year. I am fortunate enough to see kids develop ways to express kindness each and every day. They use manners that weren't present in August. I have seen students who loathe reading turn into book lovers. Few things make me smile like seeing my kids pull out a book when they have an extra few minutes. My classroom is full of faces and personalities that will impact our future world. As a teacher, I believe it is my job to do everything I can to make sure that impact will be a positive impact!

My Project

My students love history because I do my best to avoid using our dull textbook! History is a blast to learn when the references used are engaging and informative. The "Who was / Who are" series does a fantastic job of grabbing students' attention The illustrations are often hilarious, but the books don't sacrifice quality & accurate information for the sake of being "edutainment."

Sharing these fabulous books with my students will inspire a love of history that will last a lifetime!

Too many young people develop a dislike for history because too many schools adopt deadly boring curricula for teaching the subject. It is essential that teachers find supplementary materials that help children embrace history, to connect with the stories, to see how their world has been shaped by the past.

By donating to this project you will be helping my students get excited about learning the history of western migration in the U.S.
