My Students

Recently, the students took part in a city beautification project where they helped create a mural to go into an abandoned building in our downtown area. This has sparked a light in many students' hearts. Other students have shown an interest in painting, and are wanting to explore new artistic avenues.

The materials for this assignment are the basic painting supplies, such as different colors of paint, paint brushes and painting paper.

There is a very short supply in my classroom currently, and many students who are unable to buy their own supplies are having to depend on the limited supplies. With the donated supplies, the students will have more opportunities to learn painting skills and experiment with their painting style.

My students are a part of a large school that has a growing art department with a growing student population currently at 2,468 students with a high poverty rate. It is difficult for many of the students to afford supplies for their projects. Many projects have given students the choice to work with different materials and the creation of their artistic voice.

My Project

The paint requested will assist the students who are unable to afford their own supplies. With limited classroom painting supplies, the materials will open new doors to the students that want to explore the world of painting. The students will gain more opportunities.

The students are creating a painting about themselves.

This is meant to help them express and explore who they are as a person through the use of art by answering the question, "Who am I?" The goal of this project is to help students feel more motivated to succeed in school and feel more confident about themselves.
