Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I always tell my students that they're unicorns. "Why?" they ask. I tell them that they are unique individuals. I always tell them, don't be afraid to be unique, silly and always be yourself. It is important to instill confidence in my students since they are English Language Learners.
My students are faced with many everyday challenges by living in a border town.
Living in this small town means that most of their families are separated by the hardships of the US/Mexican border.
We are a dual language school, which means that most of our students only speak their home language and have to learn English. I try to provide meaningful learning experiences by giving my students an equal opportunity to be successful. I provide hands-on activities that makes students want to come to school and learn.
My Project
I am requesting a class set of personal white boards and dry erase markers. These educational resources are a great option for students to use during math practice. These white boards would allow students to practice their critical thinking skills when solving word problems and be able to draw their thinking.
Great way for students to express themselves!
Students have difficulty speaking in front of their peers, this is a great option for them to be able to share and teacher monitor their learning and understanding of math concepts. Teacher will give the problem to be solved, students will solve independently and students get to reveal their answers. What a great way to learn!
