As a teacher in a Title I school, I see my students are faced with many unique challenges in and out of school. Despite the many challenges they face, I believe that each of them deserves creative and meaningful learning experiences.
The students I work with are a diverse group of creative, clever, and curious learners.
They like to learn through exploration and show a great interest in hands-on learning. Due to the limits in funding in many student households, there may be limited resources available for this type of learning outside of school. My goal and my hope are that I can help support the students’ interests in learning at a young age. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I hope that I can inspire these very young learners to continue on a path of academic growth.
This group of students has shown a great deal of determination. Now that I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with these wonderful children it is my desire to provide them with every possible opportunity for a strong start. I hope that you will consider helping with a donation.
My Project
My students often use white boards to do practice math and writing problems. Unfortunately we do not have a white board for every first grader. Some of the boards we have are not aging well. They have deep scratches, the coating is chipped and permanent stains prevent students from being able to use the full space.
The first graders at our school need whiteboards and markers for every subject area and to reduce the waste of notebook paper.
Aside from whiteboards and markers we also need a classroom set of clipboards and index cards for students to use when practicing math facts and sight words. These very basic school supplies will make a huge impact in our students learning experience.
